Frequently Asked Questions

  • We’re based in Olympia, WA and serve the South Sound, including surrounding communities. If you’re not sure whether you’re in our service area, reach out and we’ll tell you quickly.

  • Our core services include:

    • Tree pruning (health, structure, clearance, risk reduction)

    • Small to medium-scale tree removals (when removal is truly the right call)

    • Hedging & shrub pruning (shape, density, and long-term plant health)

If you have something outside that list, feel free to ask and we’ll either help or point you to someone who can.

  • In most cases, yes, we provide estimates after we understand the scope and site conditions. For more complex situations (multiple trees, risk concerns, tight access, etc.), we may recommend an on-site consult to give you a clear, accurate plan.

  • The fastest way is:

    1. Send us a message with your address and concerns what you’re hoping to accomplish

    2. Share a few photos (full tree + base + anything nearby like structures/fences/power lines)

    3. We’ll follow up to schedule an on-site look if needed and get you a written estimate

  • Scheduling changes with the season. If you have a deadline (events, construction, travel, listing a home), tell us and we’ll do our best to work with your timeline.

  • Yes, we carry the appropriate insurance for professional tree work. If you’d like a certificate of insurance, just ask.

  • Yes, Josh Gaedke is an ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Certified Climber, annd TRAQ qualified (Tree Risk Assessment Qualification). That means you’re getting trained, professional judgment and not just someone with a chainsaw.

  • No. Topping (cutting the upper canopy back aggressively) can create weak regrowth, increase risk, and stress the tree long-term. We focus on proper pruning cuts that support the tree’s health and structure.

  • Yes, and we’re thoughtful about it. If a tree can be preserved safely with pruning or risk reduction, we’ll talk you through those options. If removal is the best choice, we’ll explain why in plain language.

  • Yes. Cleanup and haul-away are typically included in our bids unless you ask to keep woodchips/logs. If you want to keep material for firewood or habitat piles (which is great for your gardens :) ) tell us and we’ll plan for that.

  • Helpful prep includes:

    • Secure pets and let us know about gates/access

    • Move vehicles and large items away from the work zone if possible

    • Point out anything you’re worried about (fences, gardens, septic, irrigation, etc.)

  • Tree work pricing depends on things like:

    • Tree size/condition and complexity

    • Access and obstacles (structures, fences, slope, tight backyards)

    • Rigging needs, safety risk, and cleanup/haul-away.

We’ll give you a clear estimate so you know what you’re paying for.

  • Yes. Many clients like a light annual or every-other-year approach. It keeps trees healthier and avoids big corrective cuts later.

  • We practice thoughtful arboriculture: doing what’s needed, avoiding what harms long-term health, and making decisions that respect the tree, your property, and safety. We aim for work that looks good now and supports the tree for years to come.

  • Send us a message through the contact form (or call/text), tell us what you’re hoping for, and we’ll take it from there.
